The Energy Efficiency Specialist’s role is to contribute to data, analytics, and customer delivery of commercial and industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization action planning. This role will:
- Manage virtual facility walkthroughs with commercial and industrial customers to quantify energy and carbon impact of current systems, as well as energy efficiency and decarbonization opportunities
- Integrate energy efficiency subject-matter expertise into CO2-AIM, Rappel’s core carbon and financial modeling platform
- Support data processing, assumptions development, and QA to ensure analysis outputs are credible, consistent, and decision-ready
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with energy efficiency or industrial decarbonization and is excited by the challenge of turning practical insights into repeatable product logic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as subject-matter expertise within energy efficiency topics such as HVAC, lighting systems, process heat, and other areas
- Work with Director of Carbon Intelligence and Analytics to define and prioritize product needs to enhance the quality of answers or create new insights across range of GHG inventory and decarbonization financial and carbon modeling
- Design analysis methodologies that balance technical rigor with scalability, including default assumptions, data hierarchies, and fallback logic
- Contribute to continuous improvement of templates, walkthrough guides, and data standards used in customer delivery
- Research emerging technologies, new levers, and incentives for facility and energy system decarbonization
- Contribute to external partnerships to improve quality of recommendations, implementation support, or other business development opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, software engineering, and delivery teams to ensure EE features are usable, accurate, and impactful
Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant industry
- 3+ years of direct experience in energy efficiency planning, analytics, and/or implementation in manufacturing and industrial settings; commercial building experience a plus
- Financial and carbon data analysis experience, demonstrating an ability to consolidate insights and experience into scalable tools
- Demonstrated strong, independent organizational and process management across multiple workstreams and stakeholders, both internal and external
- Experience in product design or software development (Python, R) is a plus
- Experience with on-site energy audits is strongly encouraged
- Demonstrated active listening and proactive solutioning to identify customer pain points, and to ideate product features that address and resolve those pain points
- Proficient at combining and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative data to identify patterns and devise original solutions
- Able to independently prioritize tasks and take initiative to deliver results, even in the face of evolving demands and challenges
